Living La Vida Taal
A lifestyle comparable to what the well-heeled of Lake Como in Italy enjoy is what Filinvest leisure is currently developing. Following its success in creating leisure-oriented products such as the Palms Country Club in Alabang, the land developer is now creating Laeuna de Taal, a prime lakeside residence for that second home in the country. Sixty hectares of lakeside living is now changing the landscape of Talisay. Described as embracing an uncluttered lifestyle, celebrating nature and her gifts, inspiring self-discovery, rest and recreation, Laeuna de Taal is 5 to 10 minutes away from bustling Tagaytay.
Two options are now being offered: “Orilla” or lakeside is a stretch of residential living closest to the Lake Club. The cuts here are 300 square meters in size, an ideal size for a comfortable home. “Bahia” or by the bay is an enclave of 900-square-meter lots with prime lake and mountain views.
By next year, the first phase of the Lake Club will be operational. It will have boardwalks, garden huts amd flower gardens. The architecture for this center of activities will resemble an enlarged version of one’s patio, where family and friends can congregate. Hiking trails and view decks will be ready for viewing by summer next year.
When architect Emmanuel A. Minana first visited the site, he saw an opportunity to create lush tropical gardens and water elements to cleanse the spirit after a drive from Manila. His design reflects an Asian tropical village all looking into an interior garden. He envisions a spatial flow that’s languid, and the design of the Lake Club and planned accommodations to be friendly and relaxed.
The landscape architecture envisioned for Laeuna de Taal is inspired by the same design and principle. A fusion of Zen principles and modern tropical concepts is what Ponce Veridiano believes will complement the natural character of the place. He chose white flowers such as calachuchi, sampaguita and kamuning to create a monochromatic tone enhanced by silver dust and wall shrubs.
“Residents will feel that every part of the grounds is part of their own garden,” Veridiano said.
With a resort environment so close by, a family’s life can always be a revitalizing experience. But for those who don’t want to feel too removed from city life, Taal Ridge provides eateries, gourmet and organic restaurants, craft studios, spas and inns.
This is Laeuna de Taal: embraced on one side by the mystical lake and the tourist-town allure of Tagaytay.
Discover Laeuna de Taal
Beautiful at any time of the day. Serene and mysterious like a lady who captivates her beholder with a quiet dignity. From a 17th century map of Maurillo Velarde, prominently etched is Laeuna de Taal, the ancient name of Taal Lake. Its mystique and allure has been the inspiration of visitors who have been spellbound by its magnificence.
It is said that every lake has its own legend. Laeuna de Taal has a continuing legend which spans generations. She has been romanticized and chronicled for her beauty.
Towns and cities that sprouted alongside the legendary lake have their respective stories to tell, each one embracing an aspect of the lake’s allure. Talisay is one of those charming towns with an ongoing romance with the “lady of the lake”.
Most people know Talisay as the popular source of the delicious “tawilis”— the only fresh water sardine found in Asia; and maliputo, a species of mackerel which is considered a delicacy. Both of these are found in Taal Lake. The landed gentry of Batangas who eventually settled in Manila’s exclusive villages, has maintained their lakeside retreats, unwilling to forego the magical spell of Taal Lake.
Lakeside community
The appeal of Talisay living is tantalizing, to say the least. Unspoiled by tourist traffic and preserved of its country character, anyone taking residence here will find a reflective and rejuvenating lifestyle. It is here beside the fabled Taal Lake that Filinvest Leisure has started to develop a lakeside community aptly named Laeuna de Taal. Josephine Gotianun-Yap of Filinvest fell in love with the site, herself captivated by the view of the lake and volcano. “This is a project which underscores Filinvest’s continuing pursuit of developing leisure-driven products such as the Palms Country Club in Alabang,” she reports.
Laeuna de Taal is a lakeside community, paying homage and giving reverence to a well-preserved living environment.
Charming Vicinity
The charm of the area where Laeuna de Taal is situated is enhanced by the wholesome adventure of shopping at organic markets for fresh produce or discovering “mom and pop” specialty restaurants or craft shops. Freshly baked breads, pottery and plant stalls provide stimulating visual enticements to families living within the vicinity.
Design Approach: Asian-Tropical-Filipino
The planning and architectural style will be consistent with the nature-oriented theme and will address the intent to be an environmentally and culturally sensitive resort community.
The success of the Laeuna de Taal experience hinges on architecture that supports the desired nature-oriented, Asian-Tropical-Filipino theme. To preserve the original vision for the community, all house/ commercial plans shall be reviewed by a Design and Construction Review Committee.
